At Excel Dental, we are primarily an out-of-network or “fee-for-service” dental-care provider. This allows us to charge a fair, fixed rate for procedures rather than having to apply extra fees required by third-party insurance companies.
Whatever your situation and budget, we are dedicated to providing you with straightforward estimates and helping you navigate any financial obstacles you may be facing.

Common Questions
What should I expect during my first visit?
First visits usually consist of building your personalized patient account. We want to learn about you, your needs, your expectations, and your dental goals. Low radiation digital imaging x-rays, 3D scans (Itero), and intra-oral photos are often performed to allow us to help create a customized treatment plan that best fits your dental needs.
For first-time patients, it is best to arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out patient forms. You can also print out the form HERE and bring the completed form to your appointment. We can’t wait to see you
Do you see children at your dental office?
Yes! We are a family-focused dental office. We recommend that children as early as 6 months visit our office so we can take a look at your child’s teeth and work on providing them a positive experience. These 30-minute appointments will help desensitize them to the dental office and introduce them to the importance of dental care at an early age.
Do you offer emergency appointments?
Can you help with dental anxiety?
What qualifies as a dental emergency?
A dental emergency refers to any oral health problem that requires immediate attention to relieve pain, prevent further damage, or save a tooth. Common emergencies include intense toothaches, broken or chipped teeth, knocked-out teeth, abscesses, excessive bleeding after dental work, and trauma to the mouth or jaw.
If you’re unsure whether your issue qualifies, a quick call to Excel Dental at (760) 456-4888 can help you determine the urgency. Our compassionate team will guide you with clarity and kindness, helping you make the right decision for your health.
Do you offer same-day emergency appointments?
Yes, we do! Our team prioritizes emergency visits and keeps time in our daily schedule reserved specifically for same-day care. We understand that when you’re in pain or worried about your dental health, waiting simply isn’t an option. That’s why Excel Dental is designed to respond quickly and mindfully to your needs.
From your first call, our front office team actively works to get you in as soon as possible, often the very same day. And when you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a calming, spa-like environment that feels more like a wellness retreat than a typical dental office.
What should I do if my tooth gets knocked out?
If your tooth is knocked out, timing is everything. First, handle the tooth gently, only by the crown, never the root. Rinse it with tap water, then try to reinsert it into the socket if possible. If that’s not an option, keep the tooth moist by placing it in a container of milk or holding it in your mouth between the cheek and gums.
Then, call our Escondido location at (760)456-4888 right away. You need to have your tooth replaced within 30-60 minutes for the best chance of saving it. At Excel Dental, our experienced doctors, combined with advanced digital imaging and gentle restorative techniques, are here to guide you every step of the way.
What if I have an abscess or severe swelling?
An abscess or noticeable swelling, especially when accompanied by fever or intense pain, should never be ignored. These signs often indicate a serious oral infection. Left untreated, abscesses can lead to tooth loss and can even spread throughout the mouth. In rare cases, dental abscesses can even lead to sepsis, a life-threatening reaction that your body has to infection.
At Excel Dental, emergency visits for infections are treated with the urgency they deserve. Depending on the location of the infection, we may recommend draining the abscess, root canal therapy, or even tooth extraction if the infection is too extensive to save your tooth. Our conservative approach to care means that we’ll always recommend the most suitable and least-invasive option for treating your dental abscess.
Plus, you’ll be welcomed into a sensory-friendly environment where your comfort comes first, using technology and treatment techniques that minimize discomfort and anxiety. Even if you’re nervous about visiting the dentist, you’ll feel at ease at Excel Dental, knowing that we’ve designed every element of your care experience with your comfort in mind.
